Location: Northridge
Distance: 4 miles
Time: untimed, recovery from Saturday 12-miler
This morning I woke Mike up bright and early to head down to Santa Monica for a Sunday Funday running group meet-up followed by a free hour of lululemon yoga. I saw the run and yoga class advertised on the lululemon website and was excited for many reasons. Mike and I have never run with anyone else so it would be fun to meet people through one of our now favorite hobbies, running. We both love Santa Monica and have yet to run through it. Also, I loved the idea of getting a good stretch in at yoga since we’re both a little tight from our 12 miler yesterday.
After waking up at 6:45 and leaving our apartment by 7 we arrived at the lululemon store at 7:40, a little early for our meet-up at 8. We sat in the car waiting and by 7:55 when no one else was there we started to get worried.
Around 8 a man on a bike arrived at the store, unlocked the door, went in and disappeared. We thought he could be the run leader so we decided to get out of the car to let him know we were here (while praying we were not the only ones). Another guy walked up a few minutes later and started stretching near us. After a few minutes of us standing around in silence the man sprinted off leaving Mike and I alone. Since it was already 8:15 Mike and I decided to call the run a failure and started to walk around the near empty Third Street Promenade with the other Santa Monica homeless. A few minutes into our walk we stopped in at Cafe Crepe for some breakfast. Mike ordered a prosciutto and brie crepe and I ordered a coconut sugar crepe with yogurt on the side.
We ended up leaving Santa Monica after breakfast (we didn’t want to wait around to see if yoga was happening or not) and got back to our apartment around 9:30.
After a nice three hour nap I woke up to Mike watching the Steelers/Broncos game in the family room. He was not happy at half-time (the Steelers were losing and eventually lost) so we ran some errands and after the game went for a 4 mile run (taking some playoff anger out on the pavement).
Tonight I’m making Mike his first grilled cheese sandwich. This kid is a seriously picky eater and it’s a struggle to get him to eat anything besides PB&J sandwiches and Reese’s eggs (not that I blame him since they are both delicious).
